Time is Short – So this is a catchup post.

June 25, 2005 by

The Deadline approaches… sign up by midnight Sunday (Wibsite Time).

Tonight’s the night… my Jonah and the Wailers debut. I’m excited about the concert and nervous about my 3 line solo. I would function a lot better if Jonah said… “La, la la la Laaaah. Sing that”… instead it’s a kind of “here are the chords sing something over that”… I am much better directed than spontaneous… Still, it’s only 3 lines and Lex sings the follow up 3 and he will sound great ,so if I blew it no one will remember anyway… All very comforting… Bet will be there and so will Kirk’s family so I know there will be love from the audience which is always A Good Thing!!

Tomorrow is our annual “Show Us the Money” Sunday where the annual commitments to the building fund are collected just in time for the end of the financial year. It’s always an awesome weekend, and whatever your personal thoughts are concerning Pentecostals and giving, to me it feels as though God smiles on that day (among all the other days he smiles). As a staff member my commitment is made in advance and so tomorrow I will be serving Pizza at the celebration carnival. I have managed to second Bet into helping… I am not sure she knows what she’s in for… Still there will be dodgem cars so she can take it out on me when we get a chance to have a crack at em once we have been eaten out of pizza.

Tomorrow afternoon I have to sit down and write a review of an album for our quarterly women’s e-zine. The deadline is next week and as things have changed little since I was a student the deadline serves to get me into action only at the last minute… Happily I have the 1st paragraph written… Hopefully the rest will follow easily… The album I have to review is not one I would have gone out to buy myself… still, it isn’t at all unpleasant to my ear so I anticipate that all should go smoothly..

Other than that, little news… the phone has been cut off due to late payment of the home phone bill.. ooops… So. if you’re family reading from NZ, that’d be why I haven’t called you this morning… Lil’ Sis I tried but couldn’t get through… The bill is actually paid… just not quite in time!!

Doh.

Finally If you haven’t yet signed up for the WISE… Move it or Miss out… (how’s that for direct???) click here and send your address, blog, and objects of desire to join.

Balls… Inspector?

June 22, 2005 by

Nods to a really old ad for Cheese Balls… It’s a Kiwi thing… deal.

I knew going in it was going to be a target… It’s big, it’s yellow and it looks just like… well. A ball.

That’s actually because it IS a ball. sheesh.

Anyhoo, I finally got my act together and bought a plug for it. Until now it has been a little deflated pile of rubbery plastic with all the other stuff under my bed. But, with the new plug and a lot of hot air it is now a rather large globe like feature underneath my desk.

Yes, my desk… it isn’t here at home, it’s at the office…

After struggling to get it into my car, (a two door compact -) achieved only by letting the air out… I sheepishly hoisted the thing into the office.

The whole point of the exercise is my bad back and an attempt at setting myself a little straighter at the keyboard, a plan to complement my new ergonomic screen height adjuster and the stand for the Dell which keeps it at eye level…

So, here’s Dee sitting at her desk, bouncing occasionaly in time to the toons on the iPod and fielding the comments graciously when people stop to chat about my ball.

Happy and smiling she is… until Fish notices.

The Fish, who knocks on the edge of my desk as he walks past waiting for me to bite at him, has a new game.

It’s called Kick the Ball and Watch Dee Snap…

God Give Me Strength.

June 21, 2005 by

Hello! Come in!! Sit yourself down… Can I get you a coffee?
What do you think? Do you like it? Is it comfy?
And the all important question…
‘Will you come again?’
