Lots of News – Lookout Deeleea’s back in fine form

November 30, 2004 by

One I did not discover the meaning of Life, the Universe and Everything today, the temperature was hot but by no means 42degrees C. Bah – Some little weather troll probably stroked their beard and mused aloud that it could get as high as 42 and someone took it as gospel!!! From the info I can find on the web the temperature didn’t break 40 – maybe 38-39. This is a happy thing.. it means it was pleasant to come home in my non airconditioned car… and my flat is getting a sea breeze that was not to be expected! There you go! All is well.
[Update: Only reached 35deg…]

Two Further to the home front I may have found another flatmate for when the Count moves out (planning ahead… hooray). I happened to be in a conversation with a bunch of my workmates today and Adder who is a part timer in the office was there. He practically had himself moved in by the time the conversation had ended. This is ok… he is very housetrained guy and while he is definitely NOT gay he is the sort of guy who would make a great girlfriend… You know what I mean right? The kind of bloke who is at ease with chicks and knows how to live with them.

Not like the Count. Oh God… he is arriving in 4 days…

Three I nearly got killed in my car today… A completely stupid person pulled from a side street out in front of me causing me no small amount of consternation (isn’t that a great word?) and a short sharp blast on the horn. Wish it had been a train horn… he would have soiled himself then… It took half an hour for my pulse rate to return to normal and after a coffee I was able to thank the ‘hood angels’ for sticking their feet out in front of them once again and protecting my car and me.

Four Finally, I took delivery of my wireless adaptor card today – it’s a beautiful thing… Ostensibly (‘nother great word) I bought it to use at Coldie’s place where they have a wireless network. Otherwise I can’t connect to their internet connection and I am at an immediate disadvantage when I go over to hang out and play geeks with her… So, now that they have an unlimited download limit on their broadband connection I can go over there and the two of us can surf till our hearts are contented!! The spin off is that I can use the lap top wirelessly at work as we have a wireless network there and the less cables on my desk the happier I am right?? Finally I will also be able to take it to wireless cafes and drink coffe and surf too… this could prove useful in the future…

I can see that my next purchase will be a wireless router for home and a broadband connection… so much for a $36.00 purchase… I foresee it costing a whole lot more than that before long…

No Duvet (doona!) here either… in fact it is recommended that one leap straight from the (cold) shower to the bed. No towelling off so that the damp sheets cool one’s bod long enough to get to sleep …

(Not that I’d know or anything…)

Glad to hear the hood angels were looking out for you :)

42C, huh! Yeowch. Apparently we are due for the dregs of Syder’s heatwave here – low of 17c overnight here in humid ol’ AKL.

Looks like we won’t be needing the duvet tonight…

Jack, we get just about everything funny from the UK eventually … and some not so funny … mind you, we have inflicted Neighbours upon you so I guess we deserve some punishment. My sisters-in-law just shake their heads sadly at my brothers and I as we are in fits remember old Dr Who’s, Goodies, Kenny Everett’s etc … not to mention all the latter cool stuff like Red Dwarf, The Brief, Jonathan Creek, The Bill (which I am becoming hooked on again – bugger!) …. bring on UK TV!!!!

Yes, I was thinking along snakey lines. Also about "Blackadder" (fabulous and very very funny TV series with Rowan Atkinson, not sure if you ever got it Down Under)

    Jack: it’s worth repeating. ;-)

Thanks be to God you are fine, Dee. Thanks be to God.

And great news about the possible roommate: prayers ascending.
