Being tucked up in bed for the 2nd time this week I decided that a trip to Middle Earth was long overdue.
Given that I hail from the modern equivalent it may come as a surprise to some that I have never seen the movies, (actually, bar the 1st one dvd some years ago…)
[quietly blushes]
So today, now that the mucus has moved from my head to my chest I have adjourned the telly to the bedroom and am watching Lord of the Rings from the comfort of my doona nest.
I have all 3 volumes.
And am watching them Back to Back.
Happily I only have the extended version of volume three or else I would be here all night as well, dreaming of Orcs and Elves.
At this point I am nearly through The Two Towers and Merry and Pippin are encouraging the trees to take part in the war.
I like it…
Indeed I do. And apologise wholeheartedly to Fi for having taken so long to partake!

I’ve never seen the movies either, but that was more out of principle than anything else. Lemme explain: I KNOW that some books turned movies are really good, but the thing is, when I have read, reread, sniffed and loved books thoroughly, I simply refuse to see the movies made about them. Because no matter HOW good it is, and no matter how faithfully they’ve stuck to the plot, it’s always just a little less spectacular than I had imagined it when I read the books. So therefore, I shall not watch the Lord of the Rings, or Harry Potter, or a whole host of other movies based on books.
My, but that makes me sound stuck-up! I’m really not! I also don’t want to sound like I’m critical of other people watching “book-movies!” Besides, all in all the book-movies are good for the literary industry in that they up the sales of the particular book. And selling more books is never a bad thing!
Anyway, more… no MOST importantly: I hope you feel better soon! In the mean time, hopefully you’re not too sick to enjoy your bit of sick leave!

Unordered – what? Deeleea, if you ever have the urge to watch the extendeds, I have all three … I have to say the extra bits in No 2 especially make SUCH an amazing difference (yes, I’m a tragic, I first read them at age 10 and probably at least once a year since ..)
