Dancing Queen

August 15, 2005 by Dee

Can you believe it’s a year since the picture taking marathon at the college’s dance recitals?? I was at it again tonight… my annual dose of dance culture.

It would have been a lot greater if I was looking at it from an audience members view but as a photographer you really only see the parts not the sum so, while the content was really impressive, I didn’t get to enjoy the full effect. Hopefully there will be some nice images come out of it. I’ll get them developed tomorrow and show you!!
I did a silly thing at the end of the evening and fell over in the garden.

This is the kind of thing that happens occasionally – I’m not so graceful on my pins as the dancers I had been watching are!!! The funniest thing is that I landed on my face in the garden right in front of Not John… now that’s throwing yourself at someone!!!
I wish the ground had opened up… As it was I leapt up, gave him the thumbs up so he didn’t feel compelled to get back out of his car to offer assistance, shook myself off walked to my car with my head high…climbed in and shrank into my seat… There you have it folks … this chick ain’t so graceful.

Sigh..

Of course it would have been a little bit nice if he had leapt out if his car to see if I were bleeding or dying instead of waiting to see if I was in one piece… (There you have it guys… a little piece of free advice… offer assistance first… even if she might be embarrassed… it would be worth it for the massive leap in estimation she would have of you…). Further proof that I was right not to ask him on a 2nd date!!!

In other news Red is congratulating herself (as am I) for having stumbled across Mr Africa in an online news report… She sends me a casual email … asking, if the hitherto unknown correspondent of mine was in fact a news correspondent as well as an e-mail one??
It seems so…

So, do I tell him I know?

Sapped on Sunday

August 14, 2005 by

I can’t believe the weekend is nearly over… I need a day off to recover from it…

I am about to crash out for a nanna nap… I swear I don’t know why I’m so tired. Last night wasn’t late – but it was very exciting… THE ALL BLACKS WON the Bledisloe Cup. Such a thing is enough to make a Kiwi girl very happy indeed.

The engagement party went well. I think my issue with parties is that I have a very short attention span and a very low tolerance for small talk… I don’t deliver small talk well and get fidgety if I have to listen to it for long… I guess an intimate dinner party and real conversation that goes beyond the what you do and who your family are is much more my cup of tea… Still the engaged have been suitably honoured!!!

I did some good work on a site design last night… what do you think of it? Actually, feedback would be great… white background or black preferred? The client is concerned with presenting a professional face to corporate seminar and event type businesses so is concerned that black might be a bit too rocknroll… The logo is set so I felt that black was the go… Any suggestions welcome…

I had lunch with Little Bit today… she’s Miss Lisa’s flatmate so I had lunch with Miss Lisa too… what a relaxed way to spend Sunday afternoon!! Little Bit is a phenomenal cook so I will only be needing cheese on toast for dinner tonight… and I venture to suggest that such a great lunch is the reason for the total lack of energy…

Ah well… I’m hitting the sack… See you tomorrow

Flat as a pancake

August 13, 2005 by

Some mornings you just know it’s going to be a Pancake Day don’t you?

Today was such a day…

Domestic Goddess that I am, I managed to whip up a feed of completely respectable pancakes and smothered them with maple syrup (and a spot of butter)… And ate them… and now I have to go and party with the engaged…

Don’t think I’m going to be eating much…

Friday on My Mind (as usual)

August 12, 2005 by

The weekend is an hour away and it couldn’t feel further!!! I am tired, I have a big weekend on, so hopefully Surf won’t call up tonight and say “I have bailed on the party (we were both supposed to be at) come over and play!”

Mr Africa is still away, and to be a little bit honest I think his absence has been responsible for my increasing inability to concentrate on the job at hand… I have had the single least productive 3 days this term!!! Gah… Of course, that’s combined with a list of tasks I find singularly uninspiring… which isn’t helpful… Please keep it on the quiet that the private contracts are feeling a lot more interesting these days than the real job stuff…

The weekend promises an engagement party … I am so hopeless at being sociable. Less so in the last year than ever before but I wonder sometimes if I am now more true to myself than in the past. I have bailed on Tez’s 30th this evening because a) his new girlfriend will be there b) too many strangers, c) it’s another opportunity I don’t want to miss to work on the private jobs.

No wonder I’m a tragic spinster… I don’t go out!!!
