In the midst of all my usual blathering, I’d like to take a minute to remind us all of those who are suffering from the aftereffects of Cyclone Katrina. Like I said previously, if we’re praying and doing all we can practically we should not be feeling guilt at the sufferings that are happening … but that doesn’t preclude sympathy and empathy and LOTS of prayer. It’s a horrible horrible time for all those people, not only those who are still waiting to be rescued, but those who are in the Texas Superdome with nowhere to call home, the Australians who are just coming back who have seen murders and rapes, the little children who have lost their parents, the poor old people who are unable to assist with their own rescues but just have to rely on the goodness of others, the soldiers who are trying to keep order in the streets, the medical personnel who will be just now beginning to fight what is looking to be an almost unimaginable battle against sickness and disease … our hearts and prayers go out to them all.
