Went Lookin to Git me a Mountain Man

April 25, 2005 by

Umm,

(That’s actually not true, but I wanted to put ‘Git me a Mountain Man’ in a sentence.)

I did go to the Mountains today. The Blue ones West of Sydney.

While most people go to the Blue Mts to see the Three Sisters we avoided them and opted instead to go to Leura.

Leura is a really pretty, historical looking town with lots of crafty stores. For the 1st time in ages I managed to purchase long taper candles to fit a candle holder I have wanted to fill up since the old candles, well, you know… got all burnt up!

We (Bet, Chen and Me) followed up our window shopping with a walk down the Leura Cascades. I am embarassed to admit that this is the 1st bush type walk I have done since I came to Australia! Happily, it isn’t a difficult walk (though my out of condition body took a bit of a testing) and follows a river down over a series of cascades to a steep and rather pretty waterfall which drops down into a deep valley. The fun, of course, was the climb back up. (Time for a soak in the bath I think…)

The best part of the whole day is the fact that I thought about getting out of Manly and got off my and butt did it. It gets so easy to sit at home and work that it takes a concerted effort to actually do it. And when you do? It’s a great day!!!

Ed. I could go to the mountains today because I had the day off due to it being ANZAC Day in Australia and New Zealand. For an explanation about what that means check in on Fi

We did it!

The Blackbird maitre’d must have thought it peculiar that 3 people told him they were meeting complete strangers there and that they would like to converge at the Rear of the Venue. He was unperterbed however, and we adjourned there one by one. Given that there were only the 3 of us it wasn’t too difficult to figure out who was who identifying features notwithstanding… And, it was rather lovely to meet the other people whose lives I know so much, (and yet so little, about)!

Chat covered all manner of topics including (but not exclusive to) church, the wibsite (all complimentary of course), work, study, white lab coats, moveable feasts and mutual friends (yes, Christian circles are small on the North Shore), Blackstump and meeting Everybody. It was great! So, thanks Ian and Yay for agreeing to hook up and let’s do it again sometime!

I am not a smoker.

Once I was *shuffles her feet embarassed like*

But I am not anymore *smiles*

I went to lunch to celebrate the 1st anniversary of the arrival of my Godson JJ today. His Nan smokes.

Now it smells like I do, though I have changed my clothes and everything.

It’s not lovely, even though I used to think it was.

It doesn’t taste lovely either.

Sigh.

Sleepless in Sydney

April 23, 2005 by

Time Check: 1:24am.

No yawning

No blinking

Sigh

I have Milo made with milk cooling beside me [yawns] and [yawns]. a head full of plans for my 4 day weekend And a massive case of the guilts.

Sigh

The Romme girls met tonight to say hooray to JK who is going to London to go to work… Today being the 22nd and all, a day I have had booked out in my brain calendar for months.

I got an email to remind me about the farewell Romme game and Pizza Night while I was in NZ and once again I pinged the internal calendar to remember the 22nd and go to T’s house for pizza and cards.

Except that my internal calendar set to 2006 not 2005. I thought the 22nd was Saturday.

It wasn’t.

So I got a call from T saying “Are you coming?” while I was up to my elbows in steak and stirfry and halfway down a bottle of Shiraz.

Clearly I wasn’t coming…

Gulp.

Two month’s plans.

What a complete Stuff Up. Sigh Ed. I would have said Cock Up but I’m not so polite

So JK is going to England without having said goodbye to me in person, the Romme kitty has been spent without Bet and I because she is in NZ and I am a complete drop kick. And T, the newest member of our wee card party thinks I am completely stupid and irresponsible and flicked the party because it was at her house, and she and I do not see eye to eye.

Instead I had dinner with Skeeter which was Looong overdue and a case of the guilts which is keeping me awake.

I guess you can’t have it all!
