That Book meem Thingummy

September 21, 2006 by

1. One book that changed your life – the hardest question first.
Hmm you may expect me to say The Bible. Actually, the book that changed my life was The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron. It gave me permission to be wired the way I am. To be who I am and to love it.
2. One book that you’ve read more than once.
Too many to mention, I read so fast that I never read every word so that no matter how long the book has sat on my shelf everytime I pick it up it’s like a new book… Most books go around at least twice.
3. One book that you’d want on a desert island.
Ok, this is where I put the Bible.
4. One book that made you laugh.
Bridget Jones’ Diary by Helen Fielding. The printed word has never before or since been that hilarious to me.
5. One book that made you cry.
I don’t do sad – to the point I will read the ending first and give up if it finishes less than happy. So Bridget Jones has to go here too. I laughed so hard I cried.
6. One book that you wish you had written.
To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. Simple Eloquence.

7. One book you wish had never been written.

Somtimes the answer here too would have to be the Bible. For all its freedoms it comes with significant restraints. If honesty is to prevail, for me there are times when it chafes.
8. One book that you are reading at the moment.
Little of Consequence. It’s a great title isn’t it? Actually that isn’t a title… All I’ve been reading lately are blogs… oh, that and Notebook Magazine.
9. One book that you’ve been meaning to read.
Self-Made Man: One Woman’s Journey Into Manhood and Back Again – by Norah Vincent. Heard all the publicity interviews and still haven’t got my hands on a copy. Sounds like a fascinating read.
10. Tag – You’re it – Oh but you don’t have to play if you don’t want to… if you do leave me a link so I can read yours.

    Excellent!
I think I may need to read that book in number 9 now as well. That’s the good thing about these book memes, always finding something new to read!
