One Down Two To Go

November 17, 2005 by

The Bigger than Ever Big Thing is 1/3 over.

At this stage I believe we can call it a success. From my point of view listening on coms, there didn’t seem to be too many strange requests or dramas… As far as the pictures are concerned I’ll have a look at them this afternoon. I am shooting with a borrowed digital SLR so I am enjoying the instant feedback of having a look at the results as soon as you’ve taken on picture.

Hopefully, because I deleted the totally crap ones, they are as good and full size as they look in the little window in the back of the camera…

Prayers Eagerly Sought

November 14, 2005 by

Hey Team,

Just checking in to ask for prayer support for the whole of this week.

We are running a city wide event hosting an high profile American preacher in the largest indoor venue in Sydney.
It’s the first time our church has put something this big together, and we’ve done in in 3 months (which, quite frankly questions our sanity) but we have great hopes (and faith) that the message he brings will impact our city for great good.

I’m thrilled to be a part of it as one of the official photographers!! A fun job… but not without its concerns… I’m using a new digital rig which is exciting and terrifying at the same time, and I really want to do the organizers faith in me justice!!

So please pray, that the event will run smoothly thanks to all the New South Welsh versions of Chops we have helping us out, that the team stays gracious in the midst of stress and that the 1000 volunteers we have remain gracious also.

Also that I can relax into the task, that God will sharpen my eye for the best pictures and that I won’t shake and drop the camera when I have to photograph Guy Sebastian at the kid’s programme on Wednesday night.

Finally, and above all, that the event will bring glory not to us, but to our God and that despite differences there may be in the expressions of faiths of the people attending that the message will transcend the expression.

Many thanks

D

On Track or Derailed

November 8, 2005 by

I am a long way behind on my word target for Nano. I suspect this is due to a long list of procrastination tools I have at my disposal. I list them here for no good reason.

1. Downloading 30 tracks on the deluxe version of the latest album by Jamie Cullum from the Itunes store [now available in Australia, and about bloody time]. Actually, there’s no good reason why I couldn’t write the novel and be downloading the trax at the same time but I have to move the computer to the bedroom for the optimum writing environment so can’t disconnect the computer (no, I’m still not wireless) from the adsl modem until the download is done.

2. Watching Brainiac. I’m in front of the telly, Brainiac is on.

3. Working – 2 web projects, update to my own site, quote for another job and this is just for the business… not counting real job work.

4. Social whirlwind. Bigger than Big Thing Training Session tomorrow night, Hanging with Coldie Thursday, Exhibition Opening for the Guy on Friday, Hen and Chicken night for Brad on Saturday… Church on Sunday.

However, I think if I work on the book all day all weekend… might get back in business…

But in reality?

It looks like I’m doomed.

Requiem for a Goldfish

November 5, 2005 by

Alas poor Otto, I knew him well?
1 fish, 2 fish, now there’s no fish?
Fishy in the water fishy in the sea, you karked it, I flushed you, and now it’s time for tea?

I had long suspected that the fish would go before I did, half expecting that one day I’d walk past the tank and see him floating… which he was, this morning… on his side…(Not natural). At least he was dead; I’m not sure I could have euthansed him. Is the best part of 4 years is a good innings for a fish? I have no idea.

There you have it. Otto is no more.

Ooh I’ve got it…

So Long Otto, and Thanks For Being a Fish.
