Midweek Malaise

August 17, 2005 by

I got fed up with work and a slow network today so I left the office at 3 and came to work at home.

Except I am blogging… not working…

I didn’t get home till 1.45 this morning – the babysitting was a marathon… so I am tired and, as it happens, thoroughly fed up with having to be solely responsible for myself…

I want someone to take one look at me and say “Dee, can I make you a coffee? Would you like to put your feet up for an hour or so while I cook dinner and vacuum the house?” Or better still, “Shall I give you a massage?”

Some days being a single girl is the best thing ever. And on days like today it’s depressing…

The Bigger than Ben Hur Big Thing

August 17, 2005 by

Well, given all the Big Thing talk I have been doing lately you might have thought I was all big thinged out…

And you’d be right…

So you would have been very sympathetic this afternoon to see me checking out the venue for our biggest Big Thing ever. I have a new appreciation for Chops and the Big Things he does all the time… I swear it would drive me barking mad…

Today our All Staff Big Day Out was a visit to the Big Thing venue… (a Sydney House of Chops as it were)… we all toddled across town to check out the venue and to catch the vision for the Big Thing and get all inspired (read scared stiff) of all the work that is going to go into this Big Thing…

I had the vision… I swear, before we even left the office, I had lots of much more interesting work to do (no disrespect intended Chops) – but we were compelled to attend… So now, my feet are sore and my work remains undone… However, to their credit the Big Thing Venue people gave us a muffin to restore our flagging spirits at the end of the day which was very nice thank you.

And can you guess where I am now?

I’m sitting on babies… I got an emergency call at 8pm to come and relieve a sitter who needed to go home sick… My agent caught me by surprise and so I said yes. I’m an idiot… the agent didn’t tell me the parents won’t be home till one.

Silly twit…

Sapped on Sunday

August 14, 2005 by

I can’t believe the weekend is nearly over… I need a day off to recover from it…

I am about to crash out for a nanna nap… I swear I don’t know why I’m so tired. Last night wasn’t late – but it was very exciting… THE ALL BLACKS WON the Bledisloe Cup. Such a thing is enough to make a Kiwi girl very happy indeed.

The engagement party went well. I think my issue with parties is that I have a very short attention span and a very low tolerance for small talk… I don’t deliver small talk well and get fidgety if I have to listen to it for long… I guess an intimate dinner party and real conversation that goes beyond the what you do and who your family are is much more my cup of tea… Still the engaged have been suitably honoured!!!

I did some good work on a site design last night… what do you think of it? Actually, feedback would be great… white background or black preferred? The client is concerned with presenting a professional face to corporate seminar and event type businesses so is concerned that black might be a bit too rocknroll… The logo is set so I felt that black was the go… Any suggestions welcome…

I had lunch with Little Bit today… she’s Miss Lisa’s flatmate so I had lunch with Miss Lisa too… what a relaxed way to spend Sunday afternoon!! Little Bit is a phenomenal cook so I will only be needing cheese on toast for dinner tonight… and I venture to suggest that such a great lunch is the reason for the total lack of energy…

Ah well… I’m hitting the sack… See you tomorrow

Flat as a pancake

August 13, 2005 by

Some mornings you just know it’s going to be a Pancake Day don’t you?

Today was such a day…

Domestic Goddess that I am, I managed to whip up a feed of completely respectable pancakes and smothered them with maple syrup (and a spot of butter)… And ate them… and now I have to go and party with the engaged…

Don’t think I’m going to be eating much…
