Concrete proof arrived in the mail today… *insert image of dancing deelea*

It must be the 7th year itch making home so desperately attractive. I may well get cured while I am there ready to come back to Sydney fortified for another 7 … Still, now I am wishing away the 1st quarter of the year … That might not be a good space to be in but it feels grand anyway…

In other news…

I am feeling much improved and was back in the office today. Actually, the Count was the one home sick… apparently rumors have been spreading (in jest) due to the contagious nature of conjunctivitis and the fact the Count and the Robber, another of the accounts guys, have it as well. And I was the one who had it first. there has been lots of tsk tsk and nudge and wink going on…

*grins* I would like to point out that I had nothing to do with it…

Tez came over.

Grrr, Gah, Bah…

Sigh.

The truth is, I just don’t get it. Why, when we connect the way we seem to, is there no prospect of making our relationship more than just mates?

Now, I am not spending every waking minute dreaming about him, wondering what he is doing, wishing he were here but when we are together it seems like the most simple and natural thing in the world and I just wish we could do it more than once every couple of months.

I have known him for 6 years, and every so often it appears as if maybe, just maybe, he might have been making a move in my direction.

But nothing.

So we talked this evening of the hardships of the last year (mine), the faith journey we have been on, the awkward place he is in now and under it all was the … “Get over here and grab me” subliminal messge (well, at least it is what I tried to transmit).

He was not receiving…

And all the while we talked about real life and real relationships and our desire not to be singular much longer. It comes about so naturally, both of us talking about our latest dating escapades, wondering about who might be around the corner and neither of us said..

“Well?”

I can’t decide if he really becomes attractive because, beside Surf, he is the only guy I actually have meaningful conversation with. This was definitely a sadly lacking area in my world until Surf and Tez came along… So, I wonder if the deal is mine and if I should be really getting into the “men and women can be GREAT friends” theory instead of the “men and women cannot be just friends … under any circumstances” assumed fact…

Actually, there is a big part of me that secretly subscribes to the “He’s Just Not That Into You” theory. It would explain the lack of action. But be that as it may, please don’t tell me to grab him and pash (snog, french) him senseless. I don’t want to be ruining the only concrete avenues I have of great interaction with the opposite sex even if they are only “no funny business” ones.

Homeward Bound

Ooooh this is one excited little blogger…

I booked and paid for my tickets to NZ today at the bargain price of $406.00AUD incl taxes. And this on AIR New Zealand my airline of choice…

There are a number of reasons I am delighted about going home .. .

  1. One of the days I will be there is my birthday. I plan to celebrate with the family for the 1st time since my 30th.
  2. My Brother will be celebrating his 30th around the same time and I will be home to party with him!
  3. There are a number of new babies to meet… Finn, Petra and Rebecca among others…
  4. Lil’ Sis will be either ‘great with child’ or newly delivered so I will meet ‘Doddle’
  5. I plan to see some of my favourite people, some of whom I’ve not managed to get to since I first left NZ…
  6. I will see the NZ weather map… (The Australian one still doesn’t look right… well, except for the lovely warm numbers…)
  7. I will reinvigorate my accent… (actually, a dubious pleasure, and a totally unavoidable one)

Now all I need to do is find a way to stay sane between now and April…
