The New Job

August 9, 2004 by

In the interest of researching prospective alternatives to my current job as a Personal Assistant/Administrator I have been reading What Color is Your Parachute and doing all the exercises etc.

However, I came across this wonderful site that could totally change my life when I do decide to go elsewhere.

http://www.jobpredictor.com/index.asp

Apparently my dream job is to be a Spinster with cats.

I’ll start Monday …. (oops, thats today …. right, I’m off)

“Here Kitty, Kitty, Kitty.”

Funny Thing About the Change of Arrangements

August 9, 2004 by

Actually the reason I wanted to mention the room was the bed… (I know, I promise this is the last time I mention the bed … except to say first that I have clean sheets tonight and that such a pleasure should be number one on the list of Things I Like (see July))

Anyway, this bed story is more a study on human behaviour ok?

Good

In the room change of arrangement my bed is turned around 180 degrees. I am sure you’ll agree this is not a remarkable thing … However doing so has totally altered my sleeping behaviour.

With the bed in the old position I slept on my left side, with the bed in the new position I sleep on my right. I also now sleep on the total opposite side of the bed… Anyway, in both scenarios I am opting for sleeping on the edge of the bed closest to the door and on the side which sees me facing the door, almost as if I were making sure I was ready for a quick getaway, should such a need arise… I wonder what my subconscious is trying to tell me…

Has anyone else made similar findings in their experience? Or is this one more thing that makes me slightly off centre…

Sunday is Gone, and the Weekend Along With It

August 9, 2004 by

Actually, there is an hour and 10 minutes of Sunday left. But it is gone to all intents and purposes.. I am once again in bed and heading for Nod!

Did I mention that I changed my room around? I guess a change is as good as a holiday… I have lived in this room for 2.5 years and this is the 3rd arrangement, not bad considering there really only is room for my Queen bed, my new chest of drawers and the picture window. This arrangement is much better, I can look out the window from the bed and not be seen, or see the neighbours. This is a very good thing as one can occasionally see too much…

Got another email today from a “complete stranger looking for love” – this one is in the US so I’m not likely to bump into him while out shopping. This is also a very good thing…

Back to work tomorrow … erk. Not sure if I am looking forward to it or not.

Pretty much not, I think…

On the Home Front

August 7, 2004 by

Saturday mornings usually means coffee at Ground Zero with Bliss but she is asleep… still. She has just got off night shifts for the week so has been keeping very unusual hours. This has it’s problems for me …

1. No Bliss to play with
2. Am sitting on floor of VERY dusty room wanting to vacuum and can’t for fear of waking her…
3. Can’t crank up the stereo – dying to listen to some fabulous Miles, (VERY Saturday afternoon … ) but being good flatmate so leaving the stereo off for now.

Did I tell you Bliss is deserting me? She is moving back to her hometown in “that state up north” and leaving me to the mercy of flatmate arrangers anonymous… My other friends give me all sorts of tips and recommendations for potential flatties but all are about as scary as finding love in the lap of the G.O.D.S, if not more so.

Am relieved to have until Sept 20th to sort the wheat from the chaff and find someone … bit worried though, there aren’t too many people that can appreciate, or just plain ignore my foibles. Am toying with the idea of having a boy move in, from past experience they are less maintenance …

Then there is the added bonus that he might have friends that come over …
