Tasks for Thursday

August 12, 2004 by

There is something very satisfying about getting those jobs done that you don’t like doing …

Thursday is accounts day here … I have to fill in the paperwork to submit to the dollar babies* for cheque generation.

It is tedious.

Not to mention that I have to calculate my mobile calls for reimbursement … Checking each one to figure out if it is personal or business… This takes quite some time … BORING!!!!!!!

Anyway … I am writing this to celebrate that it is done …

Now I can do the fun stuff …

Hmmm if I can remember what the fun stuff is ….

(*actually a dollar baby is a baby born in NZ in 1967, the year decimal currency came in)

Fingers Drumming on the Table (Actually the Keyboard)

August 10, 2004 by

Its 6.20pm and I am waiting for my baked potato to cook (Nostalgic nod to winter dinners in England – Baked tattie liberally doused with Heinz beans (the bacon kind – yum)… Wouldn’t normally cook it but have to confess there isn’t anything else in the house to eat…)

I “cleaned out” my Media Player today and got to thinking about what I listen to most… Thought you might like a look …

My current top 10 – but not necessarily listed in order of preference – more like order of remembrance…

1. Sting – Sacred Love
2. Miles Davis – Kind of Blue
3. Darlene Zschech – Kiss of Heaven
4. Nik Kershaw – To Be Frank
5. Nik Kershaw – 15 Minutes
6. Incognito – Positivity
7. Nichole Nordeman – Woven and Spun
8. Silverchair – Diorama
9. Dreamlab – Dreamlab
10. Parachute Band – Glorious

There are others but if I listed them it wouldn’t be the top ten now would it???

And so I got to thinking about books I like – Books being another thing that should be on July’s list of things I like… (which by the way has not netted a single googler… What’s that about????)

Anyway, Authors I like – again, a top ten…

1. Daniel Silva – (Spy Thrillers)
2. Janet Evanovich – (Comic Mysteries)
3. Jennifer Crusie – (Mysterious yet Romatic (and not a little saucy from time to time!))
4. Alexander McCall Smith – (Mysteries with an African flavour (refreshingly different))
5. Kathy Reichs (Scary as (and sometimes fully gross))
6. Elizabeth Enright (Harking back to Childhood – Nostalgic childish adventures)
7. Marion Keyes – (Irish Love, classically funny)
8. Sarah Donati (The full epic novel – drama, lurve, adventure, she’s got it all)
9. God – The Bible. (Action, Adventure, Love, Drama, Violence, Death, Life, Religion, Politics)
10. Diana Gabaldon (See Sarah Donati and add whimsy …)

I could go on… and on… and on…

But I won’t

Note to self: Be on the lookout for Wiblog Police lurking around corners hoping to catch bloggers blogging under the influence – must be wary of blogging with a Shiraz in my hand.

The New Job

August 9, 2004 by

In the interest of researching prospective alternatives to my current job as a Personal Assistant/Administrator I have been reading What Color is Your Parachute and doing all the exercises etc.

However, I came across this wonderful site that could totally change my life when I do decide to go elsewhere.

http://www.jobpredictor.com/index.asp

Apparently my dream job is to be a Spinster with cats.

I’ll start Monday …. (oops, thats today …. right, I’m off)

“Here Kitty, Kitty, Kitty.”

BedBlog 2.19pm

August 1, 2004 by

I have realised on writing previous entry that I do a significant amount of blogging from my bed. Is this something I should be worried about do you think?

I think it is a very nice place to blog from, for the following reasons.

1. It is warm when the air around it is cold (Electrically assisted …).
2. It is soft and cushy and there are lots of pillows on it.
3. The window it is next to looks out over the ocean.
4. It is big enough that I can have all my books, journals AND laptop on it all at the same time.
5. It has a table beside it for my cup of tea (English Breakfast, strong, white and none).
6. I can stretch my feet all the way out in front of me making a lovely sized repository for the laptop.
7. I can wear my pajamas in it (or not, if I should prefer).
8. If I get sleepy I don’t have far to fall.
9. It is the only place in the house where no one else goes (actually that has it’s down sides…)

I can’t think of a 10th reason… largely because I am about to nod off… (see reason below.)
