Wedding Over and Weeding Out

December 4, 2005 by

Brad (actually a girl) and Henry got married today.

Sigh.

I went to the wedding with ‘the other D’ (actually a girl too).

It was great.

I have all sorts of plans for my own wedding and no groom to fit into the plans. But! Another boy is writing to me online… He’s local and a writer photographer like me- bonus!

However he is totally freaked out by churches like mine… in fact his most recent epistle (the second he’s sent) he launches into a soap box type rant downgrading the most visible of pentecostal expressions/doctrines- speaking in tongues and healing THEN presumes I’m not offended.

Yeah, like THAT’s attractive!

Actually, as a formerly non-pente Christian I have seen from the outside in and been equally cautious… but there are charlatans and freaks in all manner of pente and evangelical churches alike. So I can see both sides,( though even from the inside there are occasional times when I’m weirded out.)

Still, I think it’s a bit soon for him to be laying a heavy trip on me now about my church – I guess he’s establishing the big issues up front… but man, whatever happened to making a friend before you decide on her suitabilility for life partnership!

Sheesh… looks like another one for the compost heap.

Jingle All The Way

December 2, 2005 by

This is the screensaver on my mobile phone… His name is SantaKiwi and he’s actually hanging on the living room wall… He’s just too cool for the tree (and the tree isn’t up yet…)

Thanks Fi… much better than a Feijoa Fridge magnet!!! All fluffy cute sentimentality and homesickness…

[wanders off singing…]

“SantaKiwi, hurry down the chimney tonight… SantaKiwi”

In Praise of Breaking Your Routine

December 1, 2005 by

I live at the beach.
It Rocks.
Tonight, as there is only shite on the telly (now that it’s non-ratings season) I decided a DVD was in order and rather than get home and get comfortable I dropped Mañana off at home and went straight to Ezy to find the Island as recommended by Mañana.
Flick rang to see what my evening plans were so I suggested she meet me in Manly to go to the 3 Ducks for dinner. (3 Ducks is great, we should go there next time you’re up this way.)
We ate Penang Beef and Arabian Lamb in takeaway boxes sitting on the waterfront and finished it off with NZ icecream.
It was better than cooking at home…
We watched the Island which was better than the shite on the telly.
Which brings me to the point.
Get out there and do something different this week. It will remind you how good your life is after all.

November is Over

November 30, 2005 by

And I failed.

I’m ok about it… To win would have been to write in every waking minute and burnout was on the agenda if I did that.

I’m not sure if it still isn’t.

Still, next Wednesday is our slap up staff Chrissy lunch and then the offices are closed from Dec 23 to Jan 3 and I don’t have to use up annual leave to qualify for that time off…

Hooray.

I’m well ready.
