Sick on Holidays

January 4, 2005 by

There are many things in life that are unfair.

Now, at the risk of being called selfish, I am thinking about the small unfair things, not the huge outrageously unfair things like Tsunami’s and terrorist plots and war.

I think it is unfair to have the first thing happen to you in a New Year to be sickness.. especially when this is the first holiday I have had since July!

Unfair.

Bad Form…

Etc.

So, apart from the fact I have been without internet service for a week while I change phone providers, I have had a massive does of the bone aching, fever producing, throat constricting flu.

Gross…

What is also unfair is to have to get my sorry self out of bed after a whole night without sleep to purchase drugs…

Not fair to have a flatmate who’s first respose is “don’t give it to me” and friends who are too busy to make a mercy dash to the pharmacy.

Sigh.

I am sure life will be more fair when I am feeling better…

’till then, all prayers for healing gratefully received.

Feathered Friends

January 2, 2005 by

I believe there several types of people in this life, You know it right? Some like you, some totally foreign even if they have lived on these shores as long as you?

I can categorise three kinds of people… Those who ruffle feathers …and those that get ruffled… and those who are smooth as a ducks back, ruffling = not an option.

Me? I’m a ruffler, generally not perterbed by the status quo and not averse to speaking my mind… The Count? He’s a rufflee, begging for it… a moving target for someone like me, even if I’m not planning a round of ruffling…

*laughs*

Picture This… It’s “Laundry Day” in our “happy” household….

I left my last load in the machine last night and today had totally forgotten it was even there… the Count had a load to do… My load of girly “unmentionables” sitting idly in the machine presents a conundrum for a boy wholly unfamiliar with the ways of girls…

Me? I’d have dragged his stuff out of the machine without giving it a thought, actually, have done it once already.
You get the picture right? Jocks, Socks and Jammies… no dramas for pragmatic me…

He?

Well, I have no proof as I was out of the house but I imagine it went something like…

Paces the laundry “Hrrrmmph”

Lifts the lid

Peers in

Gasps…

It isn’t a sensible white cotton load…

Nope, this is the full monty, a darks load, blacklace, g-strings, skimpy red nightie… every rufflee’s nightmare… Guaranteed To disrupt his ability to look me in the eye without wondering…

God I wish I’d seen his face…Of course if I had been home, it would have been the polite “I need the washing machine… could you empty it please?” As it was I came home to find the offending articles on a dining room chair in front of the machine…

I guess grabbing the Washing basket from my room was more terrifying so I don’t think my imagination is too far from the mark…

It is Finished

December 31, 2004 by

2004 is this close to over and I couldn’t be happier… Last year was the most difficult ever.

Really.

I could use this forum to go over the year and reflect but I think it is better just to close the door on it and be glad that it is over and look ahead to 2005.

One of the best things out of “the big thing” for me was to get a real sense in my heart that the deals from last year are a closed book. At the close of our last meeting I felt God say”It’s over”. It was a great relief.

I had an unexpected visit from Bliss who came down for a couple of days. She was in the meeting with me and her great sense for me was that for me 2005 is “New”.

I can feel it.

New…

Actually, I had a little chat to God, and I am hoping that some of the new stuff this year will be a brand new bod… and a brand new man… not necessarily in that order…
