So Singular in Each Particular

Yeah, lame title… sorry…
So, there I am, settling in to my new blog home and I notice that there’s a bit of a milestone coming up around the bend.
I’m about to go over 1000 comments. Woah… you guys have way too much time on your hands…
So, I’m thinking to myself, what can I do to recognize this milestone and honour the auspicious personage who IS my 1000th commenter? And so I decide, I’ll give away a prize to whomever that person shall be…
It will be a photographic prize, something along the lines of one of my images (the one of your choice from my flickr stream, methinks) artfully arranged to be its most decorative… and it will be delivered anywhere in the world to the person who leaves that particular comment…
So… to keep things fair… and just so you’re not tempted to enter a million times… you may only comment on entries that have been posted AFTER today, and only one comment per entry will be counted… (so you may enter into conversation in the comments if it is warranted but you may not get credit for any more than your initial comment). Clearly, none of my comments will be included in the tally… for obvious reasons…
So, welcome to the New Singular Scene…
And let the games begin!!!

Getting mail these days is any kind of highlight!! Better still is getting mail like this… It’s so gratifying to know that I am loved by kids who I really only see twice a year, if I’m lucky… but by the magic of Skype and the like, we’re in touch… I’m merely the computer Auntie!!!
If you have relatives abroad and your kids are still young enough to bless family with stuff like this… do it. It’s so great to receive! And it makes for interesting conversation around the paintings on the fridge!!

I know stuff.
You know stuff.
We all know stuff.
Some of it I need to know and you’re just the one to teach me.
Some of it you need to know, and I’m just the one to teach you.
But if I’m telling you the stuff you know better than me then go ahead and tell me to back the heck off.
And I’ll do the same for you.
I know websites. I see thousands of them a month. I build websites and I’m just ok at it. I’m fully aware I need to learn more… so I’m looking at going to Uni to study more. To know more. So I can say I know stuff and also have the piece of paper that proves it.
I’m thinking about these things because I’m making a website for someone who builds other things. Someone with whom I have to hold my tongue and do what he wants because he’s the one writing the cheque. I think I nearly bit through my tongue about 3 times in a 10 minute conversation this evening while I took direction for his website plans.
Let’s just say the thing on my mind was – “Mate, I don’t tell you how to do what you do on a building site… how about you don’t tell me what to do while I’m building a site.”
