The Agony and The Ecstasy

June 14, 2005 by

The Ecstasy: I have finished the website… You can see it here if you want. (The link opens a new window so you don’t lose your place!). It started off as a small idea and took on a life of its own, really, I am not sure how much work it will generate… hopefully enough for Honolulu…

The Agony: Now that it is online I realise the stuff I have to go back and re do… Where sites are concerned I am a perfectionist, it’s true! But I look at the site and all I can see are the bits that are wrong… too busy, too creative, can’t possibly be taken seriously…” etc. etc, and now that it is live contrary to it being just files on the Dell I can see it more clearly with and see where it breaks all the rules… so if you have a look at it please say nice things, maybe tomorrow you can tell me the truth…

The Ecstasy: I have been offered and have accepted a solo at the Jonah Concert in the Blue Mountains in a couple of weeks! What a thrill. I was reluctant to accept as I have never aspired to being a soloist, even after 3 years of full time training!!! A lot of my early years of training were wracked with nerves…However, now I feel like I am a much more confident singer than I was then and after a run through of my [small] part this evening I think I can do it, and do it well. At least those listening this evening approved, which felt nice.

The Agony: What if I totally stuff it up in front of a paying audience? It could cause terminal embarassment…

A Long Light Weekend for the Soul

June 12, 2005 by

(Nods to Douglas Adams…)

It’s Sunday, making tomorrow (as one would expect) Monday, which brings with it all the usual delights of getting up early, doing hair and makeup, scavenging a quick breakfast and screaming out the door on the way to work…

But not this tomorrow…

Nope, this tomorrow is that decadent indulgence, the recognition of a long hard slog and thankless toil, a gift from Her Majesty the Queen to this lowly servant… A Public Holiday. Or a Bank Holiday, or a Statutory Holiday, or… [insert colloquial description of choice]. Basically, a Big Fat Day Off.

In fact, for some reason, this holiday is a gift from the Q in celebration of her birthday!! Yippee… thanks luv!

So what am I going to do with my Day Off?

Work…

Yep… lots to do… not proper job work but fun stuff… I have wasted quite a lot of time this weekend going to the Art Gallery of NSW to view the Archibald/Wynne and Sulman hexibitions, lounging at GZ drinking coffee with Bet, cooking Bills Ricotta Hotcakes for Couch for brunch today, I have also been far too busy tidying my room, chatting on MSNGR to Pash who made me cry (in a nice way) and cooking cornbread muffins.

Tomorrow I really have to get busy.

I am one of the WISE

June 11, 2005 by

In case you haven’t been following my Bright IdeaTM on the Wiblog Bulletin Boards you may have missed the discussion about a Wiblog Secret Exchange (not unlike the GISBE which I reported about here.) Interest in undertaking a similar project was high enough to plan The Wiblog International Secret Exchange, also known as WISE.

If you are interested in reading more about WISE and perhaps participating you can get all the information you need right here….

As a former GISBE participant I can give testimony that it’s a great place to find new blogs to read and to make new friends all over the world so get busy – Sign up today!!![cue end of sales pitch].

Reflections on another Life

June 9, 2005 by

I neglected to mention some of the dubious music on the ipod yesterday…

Well, dubious in the age of it more than anything… you know, those embarassing ’80’s classics that you STILL have to boogie to in your chair….

That’s me, right now, jiving to Nik Kershaw (yes I still have the ’80’s stuff in my collection)…

And it’s taking me back to the living room at Mills Road and the vinyl and turntable and Human Racing … Wouldn’t it Be Good, Drum Talk…

And all at once I am sitting with Richard’s Son, my then best mate who stopped being a friend when he stopped being my boyfriend some months later and I wish things were that simple once again.
