Knickerless

October 13, 2005 by

I’m sitting here, Australian Idol on the telly and House just about to start, staring at the laptop absolutely devoid of inspiration for this post.

[taps fingers on the arm rest]

waiting…

Actually, oh yeah…

I have a question…

Have you seen Flicks knickers?

She went down to the washing line to get her gear inside the other morning and a flock of Currawongs were hanging about on the Hill’s Hoists (there are 3) apparently doing the group dating thing.

As these creatures were sitting on the washing line and she had to grab her stuff she figured that they’d move when she got close enough.

Some did but there was one cheeky bugger who clearly took exception to her interrupting his flow..

He leaned over and took a pair of her knickers right off the line and flew away.

Giving chase she went to retrieve them… I mean, hot pink knickers don’t grow on trees…

And the cheeky little bastard… dropped them over the fence, the high fence… out of reach…

Into the neighbours back yard.

Apparently, as the offending articles had a new hole in them Flick left them there rather than have to fess up to ownership.

I’d have done the same…

Keeping Mum

October 10, 2005 by

I know how to do stuff. Stuff that is technical… stuff that other people often ask me about.

Stuff like setting up the TV and Video and DVD Player and Stero and Sound System. Actually, I used to do this for a living… over the phone no less.

As I write Flick is setting up the TV and Sound System and I am keeping my mouth shut. After all, she is a TV/Video editor, she ought to know how to do it. She also doesn’t take kindly to my helping.

The DVD player and the stereo system belongs to her and as I don’t want to provoke a riot I will continue to keep my mouth shut so that I won’t upset anyone [read her], I mean, at the end of the day if I can watch Numb3rs and Grey’s Anatomy when we get home from cards this evening I will be happy regardless of the configuration of the equipment used to record it.

Bliss would laugh, when we lived together it was my role to look after such things, so she would know how hard it is for me to bite my lip and not interfere…

I am telling you this because it is making me crazy.

And blogging it takes the edge off.

Inside Deeleea’s head Handbag

October 6, 2005 by

I suspect that everything you could possibly want to know about me and my personalitiesy could be told from a look inside my handbag…

I’m interested myself in what’s in there so for the 1st time in a month or more I have emptied it onto the table to, well, sort of tidy it up… I wanted to take a picture of it but for some reason my phone isn’t in it… Must be on the desk at work… You’ll just have to make do with my word for it!!

My Precious
The USB charger for My Precious
The plastic caps from the USB cable for My Precious
This album I have loaded it into My Precious so the cd is a bit redundant now… (It’s good too!![the album, that is…])
An Invoice for Proper Job for hosting or something
A Mouse (the computer kind)
A pocket sized deodorant
4 Lip Balms
2 Lip Sticks
Cuticle Oil
A Highlighter
A Pay Slip from Proper Job
A CD Folder, bulging, contains >20 cds (all computer programs
2 folders of photos (dancing ones… will upload the scans soon)
An Empty film cannister
7 pens, no wonder I can never find one in my desk
A retractable pencil
2 Hair Ties
2x packs of foul tasting Listerine strips, damn, needed those today – forgot about them…
Wallet
Diary, bulging with miscellaneous paper
A Package addressed to KFC (the Kiwifruit Fridgemagnet Collective)
A tube of Sunblock 30+
Loose Change in the amount of $1.21 includes a penny (USD)
A Band Aid
Hair Brush
Nail Clippers
6 Miscellaneous cds of photos/mp3s for various website projects on the go…
Chocolate Wrapper mini Bounty Bar
Brochure about Arts Connect
Black fluffies for My Precious’ earbuds ( I never use ’em…)
The iTrip for (you guessed it) My Precious
Model Releases
A receipt for an online software purchase
Benefit Claim forms for 2 of my Previous Super Funds

Apart from the odd Dust Bunny and scraps of paper that’s about it…

I definitely need a handbag transplant…

I Left My Heart at the Fairfield RSL

October 2, 2005 by

My Lebkuchenherz that is.

This weekend was the annual Oktoberfest in Fairfield… (btw Fairfield is a looooong way from Manly – on public transport.)

I went with Dussel and Dorf who are clearly German, (Dussel is one of the card playing girls, and Dorf is her fiance.) We went together but for me it was like I was their guest in Munchen!

There were lots of Leiderhosen and Dirndls and a rather loud Oom Pah band, you’d expect that, of course. At least you would if you’ve ever been in the Hofbrau House.

I ate the food, Sauerkraut, Schweinshaxe (pork knuckles), Wurst(sausage) and Senf(mustard) on Kaiser Rolls. Then there was Schwarzwald kuchen, the true Bavarian dessert…

And Bier… DAB Bier actually, which according to those from Dusseldorf is the Fosters of Germany… But they would say that… DAB is from Dortmund… not Dusseldorf…

[ed I believe there was schnapps too…]

*giggle* Yep schnapps too… all drunk very moderately of course…

Anyway, back to my Lebkuchenherz Gingerbread hearts with sentimental messages are a traditional kind of treat at fairs and so forth and in order that I had the quintessential German experience Dorf could not leave without making sure I had one… In honour of the fact that Dussel and Dorf were, by this stage, wearing tiger paint on their faces (in honour of the West Tigers Rugby League team’s place in the RFL Grand Final -they won too) they bought one for me that said My Little Tiger…

After a rather prolonged journey back to the Fairfield station, with an Iraqi taxi driver who discoursed quite vehemently about the state of his homeland and the American interference there, we got to the station having metabolised a litre and a half of bier (at least) each… and found the loos closed due to ‘plumbing problems’…

Sheesh, I’ll give you plumbing problems…

So with 15 mins grace before the train arrived we scuttled across the road to the RSL, made good use of their quite luxurious facilities and hustled back with a minute to spare.

And not a minute to go back and retrieve my heart…
